All they have to do is change the wire act and make phoning bets in to Las Vegas legal. You don't need internet betting if you could just wire money to a Las Vegas book and phone bets in. Wouldn't that solution make everyone happy? Everyone could bet securely and safely, records for taxes would be kept by the books, instant payouts, etc. Why isn't anyone talking about this solution?

#20Dont be ridiculous. We have laws in place passed by the same people the citizens vote in. The US is may or may not be the most free but we certainly enjoy being protected by the law and have the highest quality of living. But we are not an anarchy. I can tolerate gambling being illegal, ive been getting away with it my whole life anyhow, doesnt affect me one bit. And when you have access to Euro books, all of the books pulling out of the US doesnt hurt either.Originally posted by mtneer1212Land of the Free my ass.Comment -

#28Floyd Mayweather Jr. recently bet $37,272.75 on a halftime NBA line at a Las Vegas casino:Originally posted by jjgoldLV is ancient compared to offshore sportsbetting

Vegas is whore shit other than a nice gambling vacation
According to the article: "Floyd Mayweather Jr. said he would have bet $100,000 on his favorite player's team" and that means that it's possible and that Mayweather would trust the Vegas books with such a huge bet. Would it be rational for US bettors to trust online books with such huge bets?
The book didn't change the odds with the huge bet, they gave it to him at -110. I've seen halftime odds change offshore on tiny bets at the biggest books (it could have been multiple people betting simultaneously but if you make a max bet for halftime NBA what's the juice gonna go to? -130 or more?). What's the biggest offshore limit for a halftime bet? Who would trust the books enough to do it? Someone like Mayweather (or anyone) would be crazy to make this bet online imho for many reasons.
Is that possible offshore? Even it is, who would have the guts (stupidity?) to do that offshore? Las Vegas is still the safest, most reliable place to bet.
Offshore has some nice advantages like lots of in-game betting options but the fact that you're doing something illegal and your money is far from you and you have to deal with slow pay (and someday possibly no pay if the US government has its way imho) makes it a bad choice for most big time bettors imho.Comment -

Yes got to admit , I got a real eye opener online when I seen the plight of some of you guys trying to find "safe" books , it's just something that isnt thought about here (UK) , every book is safe and payment of winnings is instantanious , cant imagine how the last 40 years would have been if I hadnt been able to indulge in a daily "punt " , Whatever else happens in future I hope the USA makes sports betting legal throughout all states , Why dont they anyway ?? Is it the Churches' ???????? good luck lads !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
