Former major league pitcher Hideki Irabu, who came from Japan to the New York Yankees in 1998, has been found dead in his Los Angeles home at the age of 42.
The death was first reported by the Japanese daily newspaper Asahi Shimbun.
Police are reportedly investigating it as a suicide.
Irabu had faced legal trouble since last pitching in the major leagues in 2002. He was arrested in 2010 for alleged drunk driving and in 2008 he allegedly assaulted a bartender in Japan when his CC was rejected. .
