I always thought it was pretty flakey and juvenile on Oneal's part to say he wanted to give something back to society by being a deputy sheriff in the offseason and making it a full time gig when he retires from basketball.Not that he's a terrible guy but doesn't he have a track record doing allot of crap by producing kids out of wedlock and such?None of these glory trips ever end in a happy ending.Pat Tillman and Riddick Bowe come to mind.It always reminds me of being little kids again where you always had a couple in the bunch that wanted to be firemen,cops,junior narks,FBI agents,Navy seals etc.and usually they signed up for the National Guard and bombed out of even being weekend warriors.I swear you could tell allot of people they would get a badge,uniform,authority figure status and a title with no pay and they would take those jobs just to stroke their ego and to have something to gloat about at their class reunion.
