Haven't you even seen any of WSOP coverage when the poker players (usually 21-23) call themselves the king of the degenerates or something else along those lines. They wear it like a badge of honor. Same thing applies here.

I'm not sure if Owning Mahoney was based on a book (although I know it was sourced on original events). The film and book are similar. Both protagonists are compulsive gamblers so their behavior overlaps frequently. I found Bust to be more entertaining however. It's a quick read light read and I recommend picking it up.
