Not sure a email was sent, I never got one. But if you logged on to your BetJam account, you got the memo about them closing shop. Then the link to start the transfer process to Heritage.

Didn't get an e-mail either.

As for the site being taken away, not sure exactly when it happened, but I'm pretty sure it was before midnight Eastern.

I called and got my Heritage account open. They said the outstanding future bets are stored in the bj data base and will appear as funds once graded as a winner.

'sbr founder' just means the person registered before a certain date (sometime in 2005). It does not mean they work for SBR or own SBR. It just means they were one of the first accounts at SBR.

i didn't have any fund in my betjamaica account but I just went ahead and made a transfer to heritage anyway since I am looking to deposit some money tomorrow... but if I ever request a payout from heritage, do I have to send them the copy of my ID and bill with my name on it again?? or will betjamaca transfer that information to heritage???

Assuming the DOJ had anything to do with it. It could just be the principals involved either decided it wasn't worth waiting to see what would happen, wanted to be out of the market in case things changed in the future and they could re-enter, or simply had enough $ and decided to take a low risk/variance approach going forward.

They've been operating in a grey area from Day 1. I really doubt they suddenly grew cautious.

They were probably told by the federal government: hey, you saw what we did to FullTilt/PokerStars - now you have to close up shop or we'll close it for you. If you pull out without a fuss, we'll offer (some kind of) immunity.

It must have gone down something like that. Waiting for change and re-entering is a matter of course.

I'm already at Heritage; it's my favorite book for sure. But American players are going to get squeezed on lines as more and more books fold US operations. If I had been asked to name the two places I thought would always be available to American players I would have said BetJam and the Greek. This is very much no fun and portends of even greater frustration in the future.
