Just idle speculation for me at the moment (I will have to crunch some numbers later and see if this can be predictive) but I wonder if a good part of the reason they are getting pounded is because of the beating the public took yesterday on NYY, BOS, and even the ATL RL with 98% of bettors on them?

jjgold, by no means am i saying the yanks will lose today, but be careful here. no such thing as a sure win.. there have been over 200 series in the last 20 yrs where a big dog, swept a big team on the road. this is baseball, not NBA or NFL.. baseball is sick.. very unpredictable.

back in the mid 90's, the NYY were -350 in every game at home vs CLE for a 4 game series. CLE not only swept, but they blew them out like 11-3, 9-2.. and so on in every game. and everyone was telling me, nyy will win today, no way they lose 3 straight and when they lost and went to final game of 4 game series, they all would say, bet everything on NYY, no way they get swept, and would lose 12-2 at home. This happens so often, it's not funny. Just look at yesterday, BOS -300 and lose 9-3...

be careful here boys.. and good luck

Nicky is right baseball is completely random but I am still going to be on Yankees today I hate laying this kind of chalk on a baseball game though.

If I wasn't in New York, I'd probably take more looks at their games. I always feel more comfortable fading them though. Always so overpriced, I won't even give them a look if certain people are pitching. Bullpen is atrocious too.

But still it's hard to see them getting swept here..

Nicky is spot on here. I remember when the Reds swept the A's in 4 in the WS and they were HUGE dogs evreyday and for the series. Everyone said the same thing. "They have to win one!"

Anyway I posted this in a Francis thread:

Fran, I always respect your plays and I look in on them when we get an occasional post from you with a play. BUT, let me lay a little ground work about your comments on the Yanks on Sunday.

For most of the baseball season, Sunday has been the day that everyone gets out of a jam being the last day of the week before settle-up. I am talking from experience here. I know the off-shore, post-up bettors have no handle on this because everyday is a new day and the end of the week is meaningless to them. But for the rest of the world this day is HUGE. The Yanks, RS, Mets, Cubbies and Dodgers have been helping these people bail out on Sundays. This goes on week in and week out for most of the baseball season. Then one week comes along and the book gets all their money back plus some, and Sunday is the reason. Some huge chalk across the board goes down on one Sunday and the players chase it all day. Starts a little at 1:00, Then at 4:00 and then they lay the wood on the 8:00 and get barreled in. This type of week has not happened yet this year. But looking at the card today I think this may be the week. I am also going to go out on a limb here and bring up a topic that I posted about a few weeks ago. If this rolls all day like I think it might? CW will have "computer problems" right before the start of the 8:00 game tonight, like what happened on the Mets game a few sundays ago.

Yanks are too much chalk here and I think you may want to curb your play a little bit and maybe take a shot on a few totals today. Limits your exposure and kepp your bankroll intact along with your sanity while everyone else is chasing there settle-up number. GL

                                  My two cents.
