I did some looking around my garage yesterday and it brought back a flood of memories from when I was a kid all the way from the 60's to early 80's.A person should look at all the fun stuff old equipment they stored away probably never to be used again to make you feel like a kid again.I remember not liking to handle leeches for fishing as a kid and I still have a Lazy Ike lure with part of a leech on the trebble hook from 1972 or so.hehe!Do they even make Zebco fishing reels anymore?
I only live about 100 yeards from the baseball field I grew up close to so I decided to take my Tommie Agee ''old deceased mirracle Met''bat to the field to hit some balls over the fence like I was able to do with ease eons ago.I found out that it's not so easy to hit anything over the fence anymore.hehe!I stood at home plate and gradually worked my way up to hitting some balls about 40 feet from the fence after flubbing some balls about 30 feet past the infield dirt. Now I'm sore as hell from not having used those muscles for decades.I figured if I kept practicing over the weeks I might hit a few balls over the fence by summers end.A person in their 40's feels like an idiot being seen on a baseball field alone hitting balls though. You feel like you are in the movie Cocoon or in the kick the can episode of the Twilight Zone.hehe!
Hell, most of the equipment I found stashed away doesn't even exist anymore. My Northland Pro hockey sticks are from a defunct company and my hockey and baseball gloves were so stiff that it was like rigor mortis set in.
So,does anyone else still have their junk from being a kid laying around?Have a favorite bat with an old players name on it?Ever go out and use the stuff again where it makes you feel like a kid again for a few minutes?
I would suggest everyone who has their stuff go out and use it for a few minutes to bring back some childhood memories. It's good for the soul and will put a smile on your face even if things in your life sort of currently suck.
