I really can't make a strong case for him at all, because 14th on the all-time strikeout list just will not get him in there IMO.

Agreed, he's also somewhat of an asshole, but I suppose that's irrelevant.

I'll side with the SBR consensus here over ESPN and also vote NO.

Schilling is borderline at best, IMO. I don't see how you vote for Curt before you vote for Bert Blyleven (287 wins, 3.31 ERA, 3701 K's) and HOF voters have demonstrated over the years that they don' think Bert is Hall-worthy.

Curt Schilling 216 wins 3.46 ERA 3116 K's 22 saves Won 20+ games three times in his career

His numbers on are on par with four others who are in the HOF.

                    Jim Bunning 224 wins 3.27 ERA 2855 K's
                    Don Drysdale 209 wins 2.95 ERA 2486 K's
                    Whitey Ford 236 wins 2.74 ERA 1956 K's
                    Catfish Hunter 224 wins 3.26 ERA 2012 K's

He's played a long time but because of the injuries he hasn't really accumulated the numbers you think of with a slam-dunk HOF'er like Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz. In his favor, he has pitched some of his best baseball on the biggest stage. His performances in the World Series for Arizona and Boston might, and I emphasize might, be enough to get him in. Not a first ballot slam dunk HOF'er IMO.
