I had a thread deleted as well. Back when Osama bin Laden was killed, and there was a lot of tension on the board. Not moved to the saloon or anywhere else......totally deleted! Extra Innings tried to investigate and has never received an answer.

TTWarrior can also edit his thread titles. Word is that it's pretty easy to do, but I have yet to figure it out.

not saying thats what happened to yours but they did do that

Yea. Something fishy going here thread isn't in private zone of anywhere else. Never seen this happen before.

i know how this can happen. once i made a thread and then i went to check on it 5 minutes later and triple clicked it and a box came up around the title and if i wanted to edit it i could. never tried it again

No, this was several days after the incident. It was absolutely deleted. In fact, WilliamWalters made a thread asking what happened to it later that day. Never a response.

tracer, your thread was deleted because it had 2 processor methods in the title and in the post. I'd assume it's pretty self explanatory why starting a thread like that in the current offshore environment probably isn't the best idea. The other option would've been to edit the crap out of it as we do with all processing methods at books' request, but your thread would've been unreadable.

I did an investigation on this issue. The thread was deleted as per JJGold's request.

As for editing thread titles, any poster can do that within a certain time frame.

Your half right, from my experience. It will edit, but only the in thread title. But the forum view title/link doesn't change. Unless things have changed recently.

In terms of editing the title of the thread, you have about a minute to change it completely, that includes what you see on the forum board.

Unless I was hallucinating, I'm sure. I've done it a few times with my own threads before I became a Mod and a poster tested it out again a few weeks ago when this same subject came up. I have no clue what the time requirements are or wouldn't even be able to explain to someone how to do it as I simply don't remember. But I know I've done it.

It's done via edit->go advanced. The box will be available to edit.

I've must of always done it after the time frame then. I just know the only time I ever had the title completely change was when I was a mod.

Again, its been sometime ago, but the buttons were the basically the same. Just there was a edit button on every post in the thread. Also I was able to edit thread titles from the forum view. Just double click on the title box area, and it was ready to edit.

Yeah I have that feature still but if I were to change the title of one of my own threads, I'd just use the AJAX and change it from the main page without bothering to click back in the thread. Or if I'm in the thread, I'd just use the Mod tools so I haven't used any of the regular advanced functions in a long time. I don't even look at them to be honest. That's why I couldn't remember how I used to change my titles.
