No confidence at all in his fastball.....rarely even throws it.

Hitters foaming at the mouth waiting for his slider. Wild....hitters waiting for a walk, or waiting to tee off on it.

Sean Marshall is the best option now. Might be an upgrade over Marmol.

They are 22 games under .500

Even Jesus can't help them at this point.

This! You can't have a closer in the Majors with no confidence and an inability to throw strikes.

never understood all the love for marmol. just cause he has some movement on his pitches espn analysts go gaga over him. but all he does is blow save after save.

would rather have kerry wood closing.

Or a closer who doesn't strike people out and throws meatballs routinely, see: (Matt Capps).

Marmol just walks too many batters to currently be the closer

Still has the lowest BAA in MLB history.

Thats has to count for something.

                      Marmol 80 -19 last 99 save attempts.

                      Opponent BA .175

And no, Marmol doesn't have "Some" movement. He actually has "Unhittable" movement.

Marmol is the type of pitcher you never give up on. If he doesn't walk you, then chances of reaching base are minute.

If he is traded to an organization with some stability, and leadership I think Marmol could end up the best closer in the game.

Think so I agree he's extremely talented but this guy is a head case! He just completely loses it at times. I'm not sure the organization is to blame here.

marmol has 7 blown saves this season, tied for worst in the majors with matt capps. converting just 73.1% of saves, only matt capps is worse.

3.80 ERA (worst in the NL)
1.45 WHIP (worst in the NL)

he's not getting better, he's getting worse. at his age (28) he should already be a dominant closer by now. but he looks completely lost and scared out there.

he still has good movement but they aren't fooling anyone anymore. because they aren't hitting the strike zone consistently like they used to.

I will not argue with anyone... Marmol is shit right now. Its not arguable.

But he is not hopeless. Truthfully this is when you trade for him. He is young, and trending in downward spiral. He has no trade value, and could be gotten for cheap. So you trade a bag of balls for a young arm w/ vast potential.

if i were a contender, i wouldnt trade for him. if he cant even save games for a team that's 19 games under .500, how will he do it when it actually matters?

plus when pitchers go bad, they really go bad. just look at scott kazmir, once one of the best lefties in the game, now sitting in a retirement home at 27. hong chih-kuo is another one. kuo was the most dominant reliever last season, an all-star with 1.20 ERA and now can't get anyone out.

marmol is also due $20 million next 2 seasons..... no thanks.

The Cubs are WAY out of the race anyways and everytime Marmol comes in you hope and pray his first pitch is a strike, that determines his outing
