GSP is far from a world class striker...I thought he was a better striker years ago, but ever since that loss to Serra he's played it "safe".
But Diaz is far from a world class striker. He's either tough or dumb, 1 of the 2. He stood TOE TO TOE with Daley and lucked out. Daley knocked the shit out of the tough guy twice, but couldn't finish. To me Diaz got lucky that fight.
If GSP and Diaz stood TOE TO TOE and brawled (When i said toe to toe earlier, I didn't mean brawl) I think the fight would be a wash. Both of them utilize their jab in the stand up more than power punches. Both of them have effective jabs.
And it sure seemed like you were saying I'm wrong and a noob, because I said think GSP has better stand up than Diaz...That's all. The fight can go either way, Will GSP finish him standing up? doubtful, GSP fights for the decision now, he doesn't take chances. But if Diaz wants to play tough guy with GSP I think GSP is not stupid enough to go running in flailing his arms leaving himself open...I just think the tough guy act works against hot heads that he can goad into trying to knock his head off and which makes them throw wild punches.Comment -

There was no bashing of each other, just simple MMA talk from the expert to the noob. I was still waiting for the expert to actually contribute something worthwhile. I gave my opinion on the fight and what I thought would happen. I hear where you're coming from Ngates. In my opinion the fight match up goes something like this...(just my opinion and I don't claim to be an expert)
Cardio(Important for a 5 rounder)- Slight edge to Diaz because he runs in triathlons.
Striking- Slight edge to Diaz because he is a decent boxer
Game Plan and execution- GSP by a mile
Grappling overall- GSP
Sub Grappling- Diaz
Grappling Defense and takedowns- GSP
Experience- GSP
Style judges like better- GSP.
I think GSP wins it by decision, but Diaz has a chance if he catches GSP with something in the earlier rounds and manages to bait GSP into a wild exchange of punches and knees. I also think there is a small chance that Diaz could get finished if he isn't careful during those exchanges. Most likely though, GSP will pin and win with the better wrestling.Comment -
