The biggest problem with pro baseball teams are those guaranteed money contracts. Whether a player performs at 110% or 67% (with long stints on the DL) their check is guaranteed. Owners need to restructure the contractual payment plans. Shake things up, keep players on their toes. Give a good pitcher a 10 million (per year) contract, but only ensure two million up front. Tie the other eight million to performance based incentives (same thing for goes hitters). I guarantee you that team production goes up, because people (in general) are greedy. Players will do everything in their power to perform at 100% (or better).
