Dozens of gay couples were married Monday night after California became the second state to allow same-sex nuptials, offering a preview of the euphoria and anger to come as gay couples from across the nation head west to wed.

At least five county clerks around the state extended their hours to honor specific couples or to mark the historic occasion, and many couples exchanged vows on the spot. The May 15 California Supreme Court order overturning bans on same-sex marriage became final at 5:01 p.m.

I say let them marry. Divorce rates are on the increase and believe it or not the gays have a rate of break up that is less than straight couples. I don't really understand what all the opposition is about. Who cares what other people do with their own lives, as long as it doesn't affect me I cool with it. I know some people think that if they start giving some credibility to the gays that there is a possibility that they may catch a case of homosexuality, but these are the people who are gay to start with and just affraid to admit it.

Personally I don't care one way or another.Its a wave of the future. I have some concerns about the overall effect this could have on society as a whole. It may change the value system in the generations to come. There are also business situations that could change. Health insurance could become more epensive for business owners to provide for their employees. Social security benefits will be effected and open are manipiulation by a larger pool of people. Divorce lawyers will see a spike in business down the road.
Marriage is a tricky business to begin with. I say life and let live. Whatever floats you're boat. This may be a good time to get down on the "gay bar futures" if there is such a thing. This may be a growth industry of the future.

I'm sure some people will feel that way. But there are usually at least two opinions to every issue, whether people are deeply religious or just conservative types I'm interested to hear those opinions too.

I personally think two adults can do whatever they want on their own time, but I don't know that marriage itself as a holy sacrament recognized by the church should include same sex. If they want to marry in some other type of service or venue, or get legally recognized as a pair that's fine.
