#38John, I'll be the 5,000th person to ask, but can we get an update on whether you guys plan to reinstate sportsbook cash/freeplays for US posters?
I know my opinion on the subject holds little (no) weight, but I guess I don't see the difference between gambling your points which you can trade in for material items, compared to gambling your points and turning them in for monetary items

It will be interesting to see if some of these guys who have always championed that they dont go pro because they dont wanna go to new book, offshore, etc etc. If they will take advantage of the charitable contribution thing.
I'm looking forward to this option and will use it the first day it is available. I considered opening and funding an account at Legends just to support the site but the book offers me zero in options compared to the books I currently use. I understand you can just deposit and roll it over a time or two and cash out but that's a serious pain in the a$$ these days. I'd rather give 200 to a charity then deal with an offshore book.Comment -

#47The way the loaning and repaying goes now I don't see any problem. If it develops into something different, something that is used to skirt the rules on US citizens then we will have to change it. But as it stands now we have no plans to disturb that activity.Originally posted by spankieSo can US members loan points to someone? or is that considered buying/selling points.Comment -

I've been a member since before there was a points system. Ive had most of my offshore accounts opened long before ever joining SBR. US members cannot use points for cash or freeplays, why in the hell would I care if I'm "pro" or not??
Why should I be looked at as a second class citizen because i am not an "SBR PRO"

We would love to offere everything to everyone and would save a fortune on programming as well. The US guys still get a great loyalty program along with poker and trivia and tons of cool contests. But we could end up with two badges on the site if we ignore US law and no one wants that.Comment -

#53Thanks Lou.
Hey everyone has to understand, if they did that for US customers then the gov't can consider this a gambling site. They sell us points that we can use to gamble with in the book, then if we win we can sell the points back or buy things with them. That would make SBR a sportsbook same as the greek, bodog, etc.
But overall this is good news. No price increase until after the superbowl.Comment -

#54John let me understand this in full. If I place say first in a poker tourney I get say 500 points for easy math. I now have to roll over 500 points in the Ring games 5x? So I have to wager 2500 points before I can withdrawal to my normal wallet?
Do you not see the obvious problem this will create? What's to stop someone from open shoving 500 points 5x's to get quick folds at the small buy in tables? Sure there is risk but most people will now treat ring games like a shove fest joke thus ruining what little worth there is to play in the first place.
Also, let's say I'm sitting at the ring table & someone like downsouth comes in fresh from a win. Then I stack DS for his points, does that mean I have acquired his roll over? Or are these now just my free & clear points? Also won't this leave room for collusion? I mean why not dump off the points to a fellow player, then "beat" him later?
I'm sorry I see why your trying to do this, it was a good idea just fundamentally unsound. The other big problem is when Non US players can just buy more points it will mean less to them to just open shove/bully the table than US players who are now at a distinct disadvantage.Comment -

Never anywhere did I say I was better than anyone. I simply asked if that option would increase pro signups from those who did not wish to become pro due to restrictions, drawbacks or whatever.
I signed up and later became pro because it made sense to me. Now since I have cashed out $500 in freeplays and got an IPAD for doing what I would be doing anyway(sitting on my computer at work) Why wouldn't I do it?
As far as value, I probably am more valuable to SBR as I have a few books linked to them that I have deposited thru (and lost at some) that I believe they are getting a kickback from so yes, I do think I am more valuable than you because I try to support the site but that was not the point or intention of my posts.Comment -

#57One more thing John, since some of these points will be bought now with cash; if someone who bought them lost them at the poker table to a US player does that not constitute transfer of cash? Your applying real world value to a intangible item Skirting legal issues will be hard.Comment -

But to say that Points mean nothing, and since there is no Sportsbook cash available to US players is a stupid reason not to become a PRO. I understand you've been here before the points, so you're obviously not just one of the non-pros who signed up just to get "free" points to gamble with here, because they are too broke to gamble real money.
12 X 365 = 4XXX Now that is what PRO'S get for points.
Amazon gift card is 1050 or so points. 4200 points for 200 worth of gift cards. It costs 200 to become a pro, there is no restriction on that 200 you deposit, it's just your money to gamble with like usual. BUT now you are also receiving 200 dollars in gift cards just for gambling your own money that you'd be gambling anyways.
Whoa, there is actual perks to becoming a PRO. So don't say points mean nothing.Comment -
