    RIP Armon Gilliam
Armen Gilliam (born May 28, 1964 - July 5, 2011) nicknamed "The Hammer", was an American professional basketball player who played 13 years in the NBA (1987–2000). He also played one season (2005–06) for the Pittsburgh Xplosion of the American Basketball Association.

Gilliam collapsed during a basketball game at a gym in Collier Township, Pennsylvania, outside of Pittsburgh, on the evening of July 5, 2011. He was rushed to St. Clair Hospital, in nearby Mt. Lebanon, where he was pronounced dead of a heart attack.

So sad to see some of these big guys die so young.

A very good player and from several accounts a great guy.

Not many remember him at UNLV but was on the final four team that lost to Indiana in 87. Once he caught the ball in the post it was two points....only other guy I remember being that automatic was Jamison.

            RIP

Great player for UNLV and good player in the NBA. Very sad. It seem's to happen to the good ones. Billy Joel was accurate. "Only the good die young"

A lot of these players seem to die will playing pickup basketball-post career. Pistol Pete, Dennis Johnson (wasn't playing), Reggie Lewis (pickup game)--I hate this stuff. People taken before their time.

Inthedrink: Pistol Pete, Reggie Lewis, and Armon Gilliam were all playing pickup. DJ wasn't. I'm sure of it

Reggie Lewis wasn't post career--just trying to make a point that it sucks
