Whether you come from a euro background or from Watts ''Compton'' where the Williams sisters came from you have to either come from a super wealthy family or from one that's dysfunctionally obsessed with training and whoring your way through life to come up with funding. It's odd that you get these Balkan-eastern block tennis players family's owning ski resorts where their mothers look 26 and their sisters look like Vogue magazine cover models. Most eastern block people that were ravaged by communism are lucky to have a handful of teeth and are all brow beaten crippled.

Will a guy named Billy Bob from Alabama who has real people emotions and a personality ever be a recognized tennis player?Talk about a bunch of aristocratic reserved stuffed shirts these tennis players and their families all are.

Any jealousy there, pal? These guys work their asses off and don't let themselves tilt over 300 pounds.

Guys like Nadal, Federer, and Djok deserve full credit for working on their craft. Also, I'd say that the Williams sisters do in fact represent a non-traditional background, and they made it to the top.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

U.S. tennis is finished, williams sisters are about done.

You might not see a men's grand slam winner in your life time again.

Thats just absolutely not true that most or even more than a few tennis players come from wealth.

American tennis is in shambles because of the way these young players are being groomed . If you are at clemson or stanford playing tennis in college or hanging out at hilton head or florida and participating in clinics in your late teens, its probably too late. They recognized a talent like djokovic and brought him to munich when he was 12 years old. He started playing at 4 years old and started playing in Europe in his early teens.

Nadal started at age 3 and was playing tourneys at age 12 and turned pro at age 15.

Who knows, maybe more eastern europeans will come to Bollettieris academy in florida like Sharapova and we can try to adopt them as Americans, because American tennis is in a miserable state.

Even Sampras and Agassi who were the best players during the 90's had immigrant roots since their parents were not born in the US.
