Race 9 7 horse field. The fave, who came 6th, had 92.5% of the pool to show resulting in MASSIVE payouts on the other horses who did come in. http://www.equibase.com/static/chart...11USA-EQB.html

26-1 on first place to show
    26-1 on second place show
31-1 on third place to show

It's great when you can find those races when a huge fav doesn't finish in the money. You get a lot of squares placing big bets on place and show thinking it's easy money and you see those type of crazy payouts. I've had a few of those when 2nd pays better than 1st or 3rd pays better than 2nd.

Still remember when Holy Bull lost a ton in the show pool in a race he broke down in, the eventual winner...the magnificent and quite sterile Cigar!!!

watching the board for place and show pools and finding decent odds is always smart capping.

A seven horse field is pretty big for a bridge jumper, got to be better than, or at least get a better trip than, 4 horses to cash and you got to do it more than 95% of the time to be profitable. No thanks.

if you are going to bridge jump must do it in massachusetts iowa west virginia were the 3 jurisdictions have a 2.20 mandotory payout so you are only laying 10-1 not 20-1 big difference

Those are some huge show prices. It happens on rare occasions, but probably more often than you think. At Mountaineer race track a few weeks ago a horse named Monitor Pass paid $169.80 to show. Races like Belmont yesterday might be times to put $5 to show on all the other horses.

When I see it and have $ to play, I like to play the 2nd or 3rd choice to show. The most I saw was 2 horses pay $150 some to show and the other pay $65. This was in the same race at the Meadowlands. There were 3 entries that went off 1-9. This happened about 1995.

She got sharp at Gulfstream but that race at Churchhill on derby day was subpar. I bet her that day and she finished the race as if she was off a little. I not That surprised she went wrong At the BIG Sandy as Belmont has been refered too.

There are ways to narrow down potential races that could have a jumper then monitor only at that time of the day and if a jumper comes through bet the other horses. Someone on a horse forum is tracking potential races and posting them then you just have to be in the game around that time of the day and see if that 10k or more drops in the pool. So far there has been an average of 1 a day and a few in recent days have not hit the board. Starting to follow this more closely especially since someone else is doing most the work for me
