I've only been on SBR for seven months, but it is truly amazing just how many racist, bigoted and truly narrow minded posts and threads I've seen in that short amount of time. It's sad that this day and age that there are still such a large percentage of ignorant people. I guess SBR feels it's good for business and helps to attract new members.

I only go to a couple other forums (sport teams) and there may be a bad joke here and there but nowhere the extent I've seen here. We usually save our hate for the opposing teams!

Actually SBR wasn't that racist until Obama got elected. Then this forum took a 180, with all them nutty right wingers popping up new daily threads telling you how dumb you are because you have a different political view.

SBR has always been racist. Racism is tolerated openly here and is the norm, rather than the exception.

I don't like it, although there is precious little that I or anyone else can do about it.

Racism is generally for the ignorant and uneducated, who, would also seem to form the majority of SBR constituents and their target audience. Whilst there are some extremely intelligent racist people out there, they are not to be found on SBR.

I guess the reason why SBR openly tolerates it makes complete (general) sense though:

1. Stupid people are often racist;

2. Books need stupid people to survive;

3. SBR needs the books to do well;

4. SBR needs racist people.
