Heard this cool stat on MLB broadcast
Carlos Marmol has the lowest batting average against in MLB history

Guys are hitting .178 off him (career). That is crazy. If he didnt walk soo many guys, he would be statistically the best pitcher in MLB history.

Knowing carlos Marmol owns that record, kind of makes that stat irrelevant now.

And if he didn't walk so many people, more would hit him.

He is a contradiction. He throws a fastball with the dirtiest movement. Its an out pitch that he can not control.

it not a contradiction at all, most guys with high strikeout rates also have low BAA simply because they allow less balls in play.

Historically guys with high strikeout rates, especially those with off the charts rates like Marmol also have high walk rates.
