dlunc Halladay and Lee are 2 aces on one team. Of course Halladay is maybe best in baseball. Hamels is doing great right now but history tells us that he isn't as good as he is doing. Oswalt is past his prime.

Comparing the 2 staffs, i would take halladay and lee from philly, but then beechy and hudson from braves. Beechy has dominating stuff. He is a man. The real difference is the bullpen. Braves have the bullpen that every team wants. I think the Braves are better pitching staff from top to bottom and it shows in the stats. BUT you do have to factor in that we play half the games at turner field. But it is hot and humid there every night so how much of a pitchers field is it really? The dimensions are not as crazy as some are like San Diego.

I think Hamels will fall a little in 2nd half, Oswalt will stay at upper 3 ERA. Oswalt is not an ace anymore. It's not comparable to Smoltz, Glavine, Maddox who were in the same team throughout their prime.

I personally would disagree on Hamels, as we all saw what he had back in the 2008 playoffs. He is just starting to come into his own at age 27, much like cliff lee did. He has been up and down, but his career 3.41 era with 1.15 whip is not bad. He has nasty stuff and I could see him keeping this pace. Maybe i am just a homer though you are right about oswalt, but he was pitching like a top 5 pitcher the second half of last season and to start this year. Since he started 3-0 and got hurt, he hasent been the same.... so who knows how he is gonna look when he comes back.

I will agree that the braves pen is better.. but at the same time, the phills is very underrated and up and coming. They have only blown one lead all year in the 9th inning. When healthy, madson bastardo and stutes have great arms, and contraras and lidge arent bad. Its when baez and herdon are forced to pitch that the pen looks like a joke.

I do think lee halladay and hamels give smoltz glavine and maddox a run for their money though.

It seems like every time the Braves get a sweep the Phils also do too. It's so disappointing.

unless they get some injuries in that pitching staff, the braves gonna have a hard time catching them

It has started, 1st game back. Look at the closing line today. -163 with a sub 2 era at home vs a terrible team? Books know he is a good but not great pitcher. Fade in 2nd half, especially up against really good pitchers at even odds.

If not for McCann who may go down as the best offensive catcher of all time when its all said and done, Braves lose today. Lost the runline. Went way over but Natties will do that to a 7.5 total a lot.

Jurrjens is a very good pitcher, I think he is due to come back to earth a bit if you look a little deeper into his numbers. Today was just a bad day. I'd take him on my team any day.
