    NBA lockout started today
Looks like we may not have either pro basketball in addition to pro football. How many books you think will go belly up this fall?

NFL season will happen NBA probably not but NBA is really not a very big % of a books action, lot of sports bet heavier.

This isn't surprising. Who thought they would come up with a deal this soon?? It's just a mere formality at this point, the lockout as we know it began when the season ended..

Nothing like working hard to get your game to arguably max popularity then blow away the fans w/ a lock out.....well done NBA

Just fu-cking great, if its not 1 thing its another these days. Don't u guys realize the less games there are the less $ there is to be made, whoever says "who cares about the NBA" is just stupid and a plain losing gambler. Dont these people make enough $ and if u guys dont think books give out more bonuses for NBA and NFL well guess what everyone loses.

College hoops will just get more attention. LOL at any players who became draft eligible this year if they could have played more seasons at the collegiate level.

The people in the know sound a lot more gloomy about the NBA deal. A cap expert who worked in the NBA said, the small market teams can't turn a profit. He mentioned he worked for Portland who were just at the cap, won 53 games, sold out every game and had great TV ratings but didn't make a profit. Obviously this system needs to be fixed, and I think they will turn to a revenue sharing like the MLB has.
He also claimed that there is a 75 percent chance the NBA misses the whole year, the sides are way too far apart and they want to make dramatic changes.

It will effect gaming industry (touts, bookies, traders/handicappers etc) in a bad way without doubt..

I do better at hockey anyways. We'll make do with NHL, MLB, and college sports. The true degens will bet WNBA for action and we'll all keep going on.

for all the ones who love this garbage they call the NBA, just find a ghetto with some rims and throw out some lawn chairs and pretend you got free tickets to an NBA game..I couldn't care less if there was never another NBA game. When Jordan, Magic, Bird and Isiah retired they took the league with them.

This is accurate. The owners are proposing a rehaul of the entire financial structure of the league. The NFL impasse is minor compared to the NBA problems. I would be surprised to see them play next year...how unfortunate as the NBA has proven to be my most profitable sport.

If any sport needs a reset button, it's the NBA. The business of the NHL is probably still hurting from the lockout, but it's worked miracles in creating parity, which will overcome business obstacles over time.
