i know they have a commercial with Midge from that 70's show that they give away free trips to couples, basically under the premise that Vegas will take more cash out of you than the cost of the trip and room

I stayed at the Plaza recently. The rooms are very dumpy and have not been renovated in 30-40 years. You get what you deserve for staying there.

Oh, and there were some insects in the hallway too. Nothing major, just some grasshoppers.
