the only way to appreciate montreal is to go to other canadian cities like toronto and vancouver, ottawa, edmonton, calgary, etc..... and then you'll see the difference. you need to compare to appreciate montreal more...then you will never want to go anywhere else after that besides montreal.. if we had a bash in montreal and all of us were downtown, you wouldn't know what to do. there are literally 287 things to do just downtown.. restaurants are great, strips, jazz and comedy festivals, free concerts, canadian grand prix, mens canadian open in tennis and this is just summer.. and i am not even mentioning the hot girls you guys would love all over the city.. you will shoot a load in your pants just walking on ste catherine street any time of the day. you'll be lucky if you see 3 girls out of every 500 that are more than 5 lbs overweight.. and i am not even mentioning the great summer weather and summer breeze here and mtl is the cleanest city in north america. and everyone here is so nice and friendly and very polite.

if you ever had a bash here in canada, it better be in montreal if you want to have a great time or you'll end up staying in your hotel room if it's in any other city.. the action here is unreal. i am happy jj is coming to montreal in the midst of summer now..even though he's been here 2 times, he has seen nothing yet.

The only way to really do a Canadian bash would be to have 3 different ones. A West Coast one in Van City, an East coast one in Toronto and one in Montreal for all the Quebecois (English haters ) I've been to Montreal and could speak only a few words of French. It was a rough time Just too far and expensive to travel from one coast to the next for most people.

Plus if I'm gonna pay 3k for a vacation I'm going to somewhere warm like Florida or Vegas.

yes, toronto is indeed like a U.S. city.. it's big and populated.. and not much to do there. it's not really a fun city.. the only good tourist site is the CN Tower... whereas montreal is like a very european city. it's like going to Paris. it's a cosmopolitan city. when you're in mtl, you feel like you're in Europe. it has that european flavor. the outdoor cafes, Old Montreal, the festivals, the french speaking people...etc, etc.. if you go to Old Montreal, you'll really think you are in Europe... it's beautiful. you really feel you are on vacation in montreal, unlike toronto where you'll feel you are in the U.S.

here is old montreal, which is basically downtown. look how european it is. and the restaurants there are unreal...and expensive, but worth every cent.

I'd goto Montreal , but only if you promise that I can have English only signage where ever I decide to go. If you own a business in Montreal, you can not have an all chinese sign, all Spanish sign, or all english sign.

Even out here in Vancouver the groceries are labeled in French, which no one can understand. There are more people in the state of New York who speak French, than the metro Vancouver area...

Toronto might be an "American city" but it's cleaner, more multicultural, and far more polite than most American cities. So in that sense, you get the best of both worlds. And those French pricks in Quebec made the rest of the country put French on fukking everything, so you'll get a nice touch of Quebec in Toronto, too.
