The kid wearing the helmet is playing pitcher!! At that age the coach pitches and the kid stands next to him its manditory they wear a helmet..

I did the same thing as that kid but was twice his age. Never played 1st base until one game and just watched the ball go to SS and stood there.

no it's not...I got a kid playing tball and another 9/10 year old league in PA. If anything, that helmet was optional.

wow, I was super competitive in little league except when I was in the outfield. No one could hit that far but when I was pitcher or infield I took it so serious.

Why does it matter why a 5 year old pitcher is wearing a helmet?

I would assume to stop line drives from hitting him in the head that would make the most sense I mean I'm almost positive its not for looks...
