I think if your team loses you would want the other team to celebrate in their native language. Like there were 93,000 Spanish speaking fans and 500 English speaking fans in the stadium. If the Americans bought the tickets to watch their national team the ceremony woud have been in English.

I think it's important to remember this was a CONCACAF event...and not a US event. I know it was in the Rose Bowl/US....but CONCACAF includes many countries South of the US...we just happened to have one of the biggest venues in a good weather location.

7 countries (Mexico, Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Cuba) participating in the tournament acknowledge Spanish as their native / official language whereas only 4 acknowledge English (USA, Canada, Jamaica, Grenada).

The lone holdout is Guadeloupe, a French territory.

When I watched this live I thought it was more of a tv thing. Univision broadcast the games and I thought that was their announcers doing the post game.

I can certainly see where Howard was coming from though.
