    Joe Mauer
Year 1 into his $186 million dollar deal.

    16 games:
    .186 avg
    .234 OBP
    .220 SLG
    .455 OPS

As a Twins fan, I know ownership HAD TO sign him. But 2009 is looking like a huge fluke. Mauer has 9 HR's in his last 600 AB's. Pathetic.

This contract is going to look absolutely atrocious by year 4 when he isn't even catching anymore. Will be interesting to see if the hometown fans turn on him.

He was horrific again tonight. As a Brewers fan lets hope he starts to heat up on July 4th after these interleague border-battles are over.

          Get that man some steroids!

9 HRs in 600 ABs with a $186 million contract is a f*cked up place to be. When exactly is going to warm up and get fine?

Baseball contracts are just ridiculous. Especially when the guy who makes 186 mil is doing what he is doing

give the guy some time he just suffered an injury, nobody is more overpaid than Vernon wells of angels, hitting under 200. He's been a joke for years getting 26 million a year, more than Mauers' Sallary btw.

Same deal with Carl Crawford, Adrian Beltre, Jayson Werth

Guys dont give a fck about winning, its all about the money.

Notice how in every sport guys dominate in "contract seasons", then after a big pay-day they completely disappear?

To boot the lout got a gift from Obama in the form of being hand picked to inherit of GM ''Government Motors''dealership awy from a Bernie Madoff type named Denny Hecker who went to jail.Minnesota is such a hilarious Fargoesque state where it doesn't take much for people to jump on bandwagons where these hypocrit conservative talk show host guys were buying their cars there.Everyone wanted to have that Mauer tag on the back of their vehicle. So Mauer is not only collecting a gifted welfare check for stinking up as a player at a tax payer funded stadium,he has to own a tax payer funded government car dealership. He's Minnesota's biggest welfare recipient.

Why does anyone other than pitchers get big contracts

Who takes 2 months off for "leg weakness". They never came out and gave updates while he was on the dl. Lost a bunch of respect for him for taking too much time off, should of came back a lot sooner to at least be a dh.

                                      Twins in June:

                                      12-1 without Mauer
                                      4-6 with him

Can't hit and pitching has gone to shit since he has come back.

Joe Mauer is not the problem.

Bullpen, INJ, and shady starting pitching

If the owner can afford them, then the are not stupid.

The length of the contracts are what the problem is. The fact that a 30 year old Albert Puljols can demand a 10 year deal, w/o being laughed @ is crazy. His production will only decrease, and it makes aquiring new players for depth difficult.

As soon as any athlete gets paid his performance tanks, just human nature to work hard till you get paid an dthen take it easy afterward, what else do you have to work fro now that your payday has come.
