He has not played much defense for GS, but the team as a whole has not been strong on defense in recent years. In a different environment he could be a much more effective defender.

There's more to the game than scoring.

Monta is a good player but all he can do is score, and he's inefficient at it.

If they can get Noah for Monta that would be a great deal for the warriors. A defensive center like Noah is not easy to come by, he hustles, he's an anchor on defense, he rotates well, he's a good on-ball defender, and he averages a double double without needing the offense to be run through him. he also nails free throws at a decent clip for a center, and can run the floor with more speed than most centers, and he's a good passer too.

Noah got hurt in the middle of the season and his offense wasn't the same after he came back. before his injury he was averaging 12 points and 10 rebounds per game. His injury was just a torn ligament in his pinkie so next season he should be well healed and back to his old self.

hes a good scorer but nothing else
he needs a lot of shots for his points, dominates the ball, hes not a great shooter, he doesnt get to the line as much as he shud, not a great passer, cant play D ......

From what I hear, the Bulls are definitely interested in Ellis because he is the exact guy they need...someone who can create his own shot and score off the dribble. The bulls needs someone to take the heat off Rose and Ellis would be perfect. They don't need him to play D because they have other guards who do that (think Bogans, Brewer and the draft pick from last night). However, they will not trade Noah. Moreover, they can't trade Noah. Noah has the so-called poison pill in his contract which basically makes him untradeable because the Bulls only get back 15% value on the incoming contract. Therefore, because of the salary cap and how Noah's contract is structured, Noah will not be traded for Ellis or anyone else. I would suspect they would need to put together a package of Taj Gibson and others.

Monta is not who the bulls need. Monta is a ball-dominant player, he needs the rock. And so does Rose. There aren't enough touches to go around for both Rose and Monta.

Add in the fact that Monta is an inefficient shooter and a bad defender, the Bulls can do better.

I'm just passing along what I hear from a few people I know inside the Chicago sports-radio scene and their contacts from within the team.

I disagree and feel that a Monta Ellis coming off the bench scoring an average of about 20 points per game is exactly what the Bulls need. There would be so many different packages Thibs could throw out there with different combinations of players that it would make the Bulls a much more effective offensive team. Plus, you could substitute him on and off the court in the final few minutes depending on if you need offense and defense. You put him and Rose on the court at the same time, with two guys who can attack the hoop with their explosive drives and you have Korver and Deng on the outside ready to hit something from out there and all of a sudden the Bulls are a dangerous offensive team with a top level scorer to take the heat off Rose.

Whether you agree or disagree, I am told the Bulls threw out a few feelers to GS about a trade well before the Monta-trade rumors began....
