Calgary resident Stephen Ames claimed a comfortable 6 stroke victory at the renowned TPC Sawgrass course, to capture the prestigious Players Championship and earn a trip to the Masters.
Ames was born in Trinidad but has lived in Calgary for many years and got his Canadian citizenship in the last year or so. Until this week he has taken a distant back seat in this country to Mike Weir but Ames has been well and thoroughly adopted by the nation following today's performance.
