We have a boxing insider among us
I will wait to see if he wants to share his boxing background with us but I have had the opportunity to chat with poster Punchmaster and this guy knows his stuff. If we are lucky Boxing bettors will be able to find more of Punch's insight on SBRforum.

Most of the stuff in the boxing forum has been [iSBRFORUM]MMA[/iSBRFORUM]. Punch has an opinon on tonights fight in Japan.

Oh-Oh. Pressure is on with first posted pick! As long as the fight doesn't reach 1:30 or halfway thru the 12th and final round- it's a winner.

I have had correspondence with him in the past and I bet a couple fights he told me about and they cashed in. I was very impressed!

I didn't know if you remembered me or not, it was almost 2 years ago if I recall that you gave me 2 solid picks. If you ever want to come to SB you have a place to stay. I have an extra room and I am walking distance to the beach. I owe you big time for those picks you gave me!

When he gave me the picks I had my doubts but he even predicted how the fights would go and it happened to the T! Unreal. Solid picks and great guy. I am riding with him on all his picks. I ride with IMG daily for the last 2 years as well and that guy makes me cashola!!

WBC bantam champ, Japanese southpaw Hozumi Hasegawa (24-3, 8 KOs), 117.5, successfuly retained his throne for the sixth time as he impresively dropped Uruguayan challenger Cristian Faccio (15-3, 10 KOs), 117.75, twice to prompt the referee Toby Gibson's well-timed intervention at 2:18 of the second session in the main event of the world title twinbill on Thursday in Tokyo, Japan. Hasegawa's southpaw left was a haymaker.

hello Punchmaster! i am a HUGE fan of boxing. 3 questions/comments for you:

                                  1) Greatest boxer of all-time? I believe it is Sugar Ray Robinson. most ppl i speak to say Ali, but those ppl do not follow boxing, past n present, the way i do. i tell them that Ali was very talented, but his greatness is as much for his mouth n persona, his charisma, as much as it was his ability in the ring.

Ray Robinson was just a man amongst boys in the ring, way ahead of his time in terms of power n speed. he was a killer in there.

                                  2) De La Hoya v. Mayweather, i think it was called off because the marketing ppl figured out pretty quickly that they were not gonna make nearly as much money as before, as the first fight was extremely boring and they weren't gonna sucker us in one more time, from record ppv, to probably half of that the next time

                                  3) who does Jermain Taylor fight next?

Can't blame him for not wanting to be embarrassed on American soil again. All the hype over that kid even around here was too funny.

don't be so sure it still won't happen. de la hoya likes things on his terms. he likes to fight in sept because of mexican independence day, and he knows he'll get huge crowds and good ppv numbers, hatton refusing the fight might be a negotiating tactic to make DLH's ppl give more $$$

Hey hoops- I've been a serious boxing fan since about 2001/02 so I'm not the best historian but by all accounts, SRR is the man and it's a joke for someone like Mayweather to say he's the greatest when he appears for now to be ducking the Monsters and his biggest challenge at welterweight- Cotto. SRR didn't duck anyone and if I'm not mistaken he was a welterweight for some time and stepped up fighting the best middleweights. I agree with you 100% on Ali, great fighter but also best marketing guy and not greatest fighter. Mayweather is no longer true boxer but more of a businessman which is bad for boxing- he's most money, least risk and that's a part-time past his best fighter who always fades like DLH, or an undersized limited guy like Hatton who's really best at 140 and may now be getting past his best. DLH would be a hard fight for Hatton.

I'd like to see JT back in the ring- he just ran into about my favorite fighter and extreme badass in Kelly Pavlik. So JT will now be at 168 and may take a softer touch to start but 168 is intriguing. Can't wait for Miranda-Abraham, 6/21 in Florida .

I hope Mayweather isn't really retired, that guy is $$$. Wanted to see him outclass Oscar once more.

Coming out of retirement fights are worth a lot more. Every decent name boxer on the backend of their career gets, what... 3 of those?
