The Defense Lawyer will need something reasonable to defend for you to have a chance. It will hinge on many things, Like did the police had probable cause to stop you to do a legal search and seizure, or did the officer had enough articulable facts to have reasonable suspicion and preform a pat down. Or was it personal usage, if this is the case then history with you doing drug will look back at thoroughly to determine if you fit the profile of a typical street druggie.
How the Officers obtain the evidence is absolutely paramount as to how your going to be defended. Now, since your bail is only 2k it appears your charges are going to be on the minor side. If your bail's around 10k and up then your is usually more serious, hence higher fee's because of higher chances of being a flight risk.
If you get a Lawyer there's a good chance he can work something out with DA and work some kind of plea bargain out. Six month to 1 year in Jail, and the rest on probation seems more likely, if their case is very strong and convict able by a jury.Comment -

I could go on for hours....but if you can give me a clear and accurate picture of what happend, I may be able to help you.

It depends on each states laws I'd say, I know they are very very strict on the amount of crack you can be busted with before they hit you up for additional penalties. With coke, I think you're able to carry a bit more, and as Shooter says the packaging, how they find it etc all matters.Originally posted by The HG

If I choose to indulge I do it at home. Either by myself or with friends. I live by the beach within walking distance. No cops ever.. I would never be out and about with the yayo... it is not worth the risk if you get caught. K-9 unit pulled me over. Going 32 in a 25. Got that citation as well. Officer came to window, talked to me for a few, then got me out and said it smelt like pot. He asked to search for marijuana and i said sure(no pot on me). The dog found the yayo in a spot i hid my shit. I didnt recieve a field sobriety test. There was a camera, no sound though.

For a mere traffic citation a cop cannot search you unless he has Probable Cause or Reasonable Suspicion. Probable cause was obtain once the k-9 picked up the scent, hence allowing him to arrest you. He did manage to get reasonable suspicion first, based on the scent of suspected marijuana odor in your car. This would at least be enough to allow him to pat you down, but not search the car unless you consent to it.
What you have here is a cop smelled or thought he smelled marijuana. It's a K-9 unit, so more than likely he's going to be very experienced and specially trained in the narcotic area. Whoever your new Lawyer will be, he will probably be challenging the credibility of this Officer, and that he didn't make up that smelled based on a mere hunch that allow him to do a search on you.Comment -
