Nevada Approves Mobile Gambling Devices

Nevada’s gaming commission has approved a new plan to let gamblers place bets from specially designated mobile gaming devices.

Under the new rules, users would be able to check out the PDA-like handheld devices, and roam within a set area, wirelessly placing bets. Nevada is the first state to make allowances for such technology.

As interesting as this idea might sound, the appeal among gamers is likely to be limited, as most people who visit a city like Las Vegas or Reno do so to experience the nightlife, casinos, and excitement first hand. The appeal of such mobile gaming technology will likely be limited to hard-core gamblers alone, and won’t be seen as more than an amusing but pointless novelty by most casino patrons.

Well it might if they can take the devices to their hotel rooms, so they can place bets from there. Whatever is easy for the Hotel/Casino to make money they will do it, so I dont see why they wont allow them up in the rooms.

kind of off topic, but I've never figured out why Nevada books won't let you have an online account to play with...they'd still be full juice in all but I think they'd get a lot more business...probably a violation of some law, but it would help business...

Because they want to make sure you are betting with in the state borders.

Station Casinos have a online/phone betting ( Station Casinos Sports Connection ) but you have use a VPN connection to log on to their book software. The phone calls have to be from a landline with a Nevada area code, No Mobile call ins.

So there is limitations on this type of stuff, and they have to make sure people dont do it across the Nevada borders I take it.

Ya, I dont you can call the book direct to get lines, but Stations has a special number for their Sports Connection program. To call and get updated lines if you use their phone feature.
