Posting on dial up- this sucks, help
Anyone have any heat related power outages? My electricity went out and once it was turned back on, my Cable modem kind of slowly crapped out, tried everything it won't come back on.

A few of the lights just won't remain steady, I've unplugged it and left it there like 800 times, so I had to dig back an oldddd ass laptop and run dial up on it, since when I'd try on my PC I'd get a blue screen error.

To top it off, my first 5 inning bet lost in the bottom of the 5th, and Phillies look dead here...

the only thing i've done with a modem/router problem was to unplug it for 10 min then plug back in and push in the 'reset' button on rear.

Never had that happen. Try turning your electrical breaker on and off. Hopefully nothing got cooked during your surge/power loss.

I have a Motorola surfboard Cable modem. It has a few lights that are supposed to be steady green, I've unplugged each thing from it, ethernet, coaxial, small USB, and power chord. I've also unplugged the power from my power jack.

When I plug everything back in, I'm unsure if there's a specific order required or what, but no matter what order I try plug wise the receive light won't be steady, only the power one is. The reset button doesn't seem to reset the lights.

I was thinking it may have been a spike of some sort, but thing is I have like a $50 or so fat surge protector that I bought specifically for this purpose, and it gave me time to turn it off during the outage.

I am gonna probably call if it doesn't work this time, was thinking may be on my Cable providers end in my area.. but my luck probably not.

                    crazy,
Can you notice any speed difference between SBR and the other forums when you are on dial up?

I had problems with the cable modem a couple weeks ago. When the technician came in he said the problem was outside, not in the house and they fixed it. Give them a call.

                        Yes definitely.

The avatars take longer to load on the pages, I wouldn't say it's entirely a forum thing probably just my PC too, I'm on like a 6 year old laptop with little RAM.

It's probably a tad quicker on a more current PC with adequate RAM, but dial up is still pretty undesirable at least the service AOL offers. By the way it's an outage on my internet companies end, so looks like I'm stuck in the mud a few more hours.

I will try to load another forum for comparison on dial up speeds and update in real time.

The place across the street is a little slower upon first load. Think it has to due with their flash banners.

Sounds like a cable problem and not on your end.

Brooklyn is old and behind times

I went to the grocery store earlier today. Bought 2 frozen pizzas, 3L of orange juice and a loaf of bread. Total came to $19.97.
