Watching 1993 nba finals jordan v. barkley
all these games are on youtube like most of the finals of the past 25 years. it is amazing to watch this game and see the bulls score 12 pts before jordan ever takes a shot. people that didn't watch mike thinks he ran through these other nba teams. to watch the intensity of horace grant, scottie pippen, never choking bj armstrong and paxson, later on rodman's intensity. jordan played facilitator at times also and along with scottie led the defensive charge. passing lanes had force fields around them. pippen hit two game winning shots to get them to the finals. and paxson hits championship winning shots. these were teams led by phil jackson. perfect example of how much 'team' it takes to win championships.
and the greatest things about this era is nbc did such a better job. the intro was more about the drama of the series than having nicole sherzinger looking good .

Agree. There was a sense of pride, a winner's swagger, yet some humility, that the teams don't seem to have anymore. The Pistons, Lakers, Celts, Bulls all seemed to have it. When the Bulls played the Pistons on NBC in the regular season on Sunday morning, you looked forward to a battle and knew they would leave everything they had out there and it was a clue on how the playoff matchup would go. You knew when the 90s Bulls walked on the floor as a team, they were not losing and it cost bookies big in the late 90s. Michael didn't just set the tone for his teammates, the whole league watched how the Bulls carried themselves.

I dont want to sound like a "Back in my day" old man, but now, teams lose and players say," it's only the regular season" or "they just wanted it more tonight". Maybe the Spurs still have some pride but they are about done.

true. i was reading phil's book and he said the difference between the lakers and bulls he coached is the lakers didn't like to lose in the playoffs and the bulls didn't like to lose EVER. jordan may be sports best competitor ever. although favre is the toughest.
