Have met people in Wisconsin and Illinois who have never left the state even, much less their own country.

Here's a few tips as
I've travelled through most of Latin America...

1) Carry as much cash as you can
2) Call everyone that you meet "cabron".
3) Drink water from the tap and only
eat food from street vendors.
4) Flash gang signs whenever possible
5) Stay as drunk as possible
6) Ask everyone if they have a pretty daughter
7) Dive head first whenever you come to
a craggy shoreline
8) Carry a pre-written ransom note

This should get you through your first week...
after that you're on your own.

If you want to go to Mexica..........just go to Playa Del Carmen. Beautiful beaches, great hotels (you can backpack around the resorts if you'd like), good nightlife, lots to do/see, and fairly inexpensive.
