I think people are reading TOO hard into Green Bay. The players they lost, whilst starters, with some studs, were all mostly replacable. Grant goes down? No biggy, that line couldn't block for ANY RB. Finley goes down? Big deal - TEs dropped some important balls along the way, but made a few plays. Nick Barnett out? If you ever studied Barnett on tape, he's friggin terrible. AJ Hawk is the same style of 'get the tackle but the back or checkdown gets extra yards'. Tackles do not establish line of scrimmage. AJ DID pick it up late in the year and played very very well, but I'm more comfortable with a guy like Brandon Chillar (ANOTHER IR guy) in coverage, he's got better hips/quicks.

Green Bay, whilst has to be in the conversation for 'proper' contender, is also a better team because of a lot of the guys they lost, making their 'stud' players do better.

It's just too early to tell, but saying GB 'because they are getting x amount of starters back' is fools gold and requires more tape study, IMO. There's a LOT of questionable coaching along the way to the SB victory.

The thing you have to look at now, if you're shopping props for contenders, is look at the team's free agents with 3 or more years of service. Teams like Minnesota LIKELY will lose 2 players straight away to FA (Edwards/Rice), most likely. The '6 year' rule is going to go away, for certain, for free agency. MN is only 1 team with that kind of player. Then you have to look at teams like Atlanta that can probably lose 2-3 starters on their O Line. Oak will lose players. LOTS of teams will shed players.

To shop for value TODAY, you have to look at teams with less uncertainty at the key positions, as well as teams with KEY players under contract. NE and GB are probably the top 2 teams in the NFL for 'key' players under contract, right NOW. A LOT can change if the CBA gets done - there's too many players that can move. Obviously, there's no value in playing NE and GB, right NOW, you have to shop for value amongst 2nd tier teams with the lines... That's where some reading will pay off. There's quite a few decent plays right NOW for NFC/AFC winner.. Playing SB favs right now is almost mental, unless you're shopping for value with dogs. If you do the work, you might find some. Playing a team like, say, the Saints, or Chargers, right now is almost mental. Both teams have a LOT of 'skill position' players that could move on. It's just too freaking hard to figure it out.

Too early to tell. This is going to be a very different season IMO. A lot of teams will change drastically both for the good and bad. Should be an interesting year.
