He still has a 50 million dollar breeding rights contract. That is why they pulled the horse up when it was apparent he was done.

There is obviously something wrong with the horse. It will not affect his breeding status.

There is probably nothing intrinsically wrong with the horss, unless foolishly and greedily running him in this event with inadequate training due to the quarter crack derailed him.
He'll likely be back, unless they choose to do an early retirement to the breeding shed.
Would have been interesting to see him go agasint older horse later this year, includinng in Breeders Cup.
Just as I dutched him out today, I will likely be on him if and when he returns to racing. If the price is right.
