    Need Information on Boats.....
Does anyone own a boat? I am looking to buy a boat and keep it in the water at a local lake. When I was growing up in Illinois we had boats but I was so young I didn't know what was what. I am looking for knowledgeable people that own or have owned. I have a certain budget I would like to stay under. Just something to mess around with...

Boats are a very expensive hobby, do you know what they say ..

Happiest day of a boaters life is when they sell the fukkin boat.

Illini, understand first that "under budget" and "boat" never happens.

You got anything in mind yet? What kind of water, where? Looked into a marina/dock to keep it at or do you have your own boat house and slip? Fishing? Skiing? Just burning $5 gas?

Just looking for something to have fun with when. The slip is cheap per year. I rent the ones but I want to buy one now. The rental ones I don't like, looking for something better.

I know exactly what you mean. I gave myself a budget when I redid my floors and it went over 8x. Unreal the amount I ended up spending. The lake is Lake Cachuma, Santa Barbara, Ca.. The slip is only 1k per year and they have a few that are open,..Just looking for ideas on what to get..

actually i am looking at buying a houseboat and living on it. that would be cool as shit. Pimike could never find me as my address is always changing. but seriously when i was thinking of moving to key west this was probably the best thing to do price range.

I've got two boats: a 24-foot Partybarge by Tracker (pontoon boat) which is good for fishing off of and drinking and spilling beer. If you spill your drink, all you have to do is rub it in the indoor/outdoor carpet. Then I have a 22-foot Mastercraft 2005 X10 wakeboard boat, triple black. Bad ass boat with a tower and JL sound system.

You have to figure out what you want the boat for...skiing, fishing, cruising, wakeboarding? Look on Boattrader.com. Lots of great deals since many people can't afford to put gas in them. Lake Cachuma is a great bass lake. A Ranger or Triton bass boat with a 225 hp Yamaha would be killer. New: $50k. Used: do your homework.

If I ever owned another boat it would be a pontoon boat.

ever heard of a boat forum?

Or should we go over to the boat forums and ask them what sportsbook to join

Or maybe you and ur buddy kellen like to pretend to be thinking of buying stuff and bring it too forums where you wont get the answers you need because it makes you feel special. Some people buy, some people pretend to buy.

I have a 2004 Triton TR-21X bass boat. I fish all the time so it has been a great investment. It was a demo and was basically brand new when I got it in Jan of 05. I paid 31k for it and am getting ready to sell it to upgrade to a newer one. The same type boats are selling for about 26-28k now so I dont think I will come out bad at all. Buying a slightly used boat with a warranty is definitely worth it.

One thing I suggest if you are buying an outboard is make sure it is under warranty! Thats why I am upgrading. You will pay anywhere from 1k to 7k if something major breaks,(ie. Lower unit= around 3k and powerhead will be closer to 6k) This is for a Mercury 225 optimax.

Seems like you are more interested in a pleasure/cruiser type boat. Good luck and I hope you find one that you can really enjoy.
