Diesel Fuel in 1998/1999

I'm watching Happy Hour on the Fox Business channel. They were talking to this small business owner of a dump truck business. He said he started the business in 98/99 and the price of Diesel was .79 cents a gallon. Now its $4.79 a gallon.

What is sad is he said he is considering closing his business do to the price of fuel for his two trucks. Or selling one truck until he sees how things become.

Why don't that guy just use one of those conversion kits and run his trucks on vegetable oil. That would cut his fuel cost to roughly $.75 cents a gallon.
