i have always looked at NASCAR as a 3 hour game of roulette ,unless your driver is in a crash. you basically pick a couple numbers and ride them.
you can always go to NASCAR dot com and look at the drivers profiles and see their history of each track.
i like to play head-to-head match-ups or look for a driver who has had a lot of top 5's at a certain track and play them to get top 3, it's less odds though.
last week i somehow won one of my head-to-head match-ups, Stewart got 41st but Hamlin got 43rd, i thought it was funny that i won that one, too bad i lost my other match-up and my 2 top-3 plays.
some people like to just find a driver or 2 that they think has a shot at winning at least 6-7 races a season, cause if you can get 6/1 or better odds each race on a particular driver that you think can win 6 or more races, you can just ride that driver all season and still come out ahead, if he wins at least 6 or more, depending on the odds.
some like to just ride certain teams, Roush and Hendrik are 2 good teams, any given week 1 of their drivers will at least be in contention for a win usually.

Hamlin has a pretty good record for flat tracks.
I hope this race is better than last weeks. Although I did enjoy that 2 1/2 hour nap after the big wreck.

I rarely watch much except the last lap or so, too many lead changes and nerve-racking.

If they have lots of wrecks, I stay awake. Otherwise, its nappy time for me.
I consider that a win-win

I follow NASCAR -- know several drivers like Stewart, Harvick, Green. Have met a bunch like Gordon, Jr., Waltrip, Truex. I don't bet every week. Have won the last two races. Let me study this weekend's race, make a few calls to see who is running strong and I'll post.

Take the 7 top favourites just before the race has started and then post mythical odds of what you managed to get them for earlier but didn't have time to post. Something like a current +300 bagged for +4200 is par for the course. If you don't manage to win with your 7 drivers then once the race is over, you then claim to have got the winner but originally forgot to post - you can make up even more absurd odds for that one.
And there you have it - a guide to betting NASCAR - it's tacolicious!

I have found that looking the at last practice speeds [know as "happy hour"] is a good indication of who is fast and who is not.
Qualifiying order is most times a good way to pick a winner ... but remember that after that qualifying lap they willl work on the car for sometimes hours and have 1, 2 or maybe even 3 practice sessions to try and get it to go faster.
At any given race its realistic for only 10 or so of the 43 drivers to have a chance to win. I usually pick a driver or 2 from the top 5 practice speeds at about 5-1, and then a few more drivers in the 15-1 category. And only if I'm gonna watch the race.
