Asian Handicap. Someone tell me where I am going wrong
Ok, I placed a bet on which I thought was the asian handicap but according to Paddy power it's not.

    I placed the following:

    Football Matches
    International Friendlies
    Poland v France
    9th of Jun 2011 8:00 pm
    Handicap Betting
    Poland (+1.0)

France beat Poland 1-0 therefore the bet should be void right?
This is the explanation I got from Paddy Power,

"I'm afraid that the handicap market in which you placed the bet had the option of the draw so if the result was 1-0, the winning bet would be the draw, not Poland."
"I'm afraid it was not an Asian handicap,. The draw was one of the three options in the market I'm afraid."
"Yes, and the result of that would have been a draw, not Poland to win (which was your bet)."

Am I wrong here? Someone please explain.

    Thank you.

Paddy Power and several other bookmakers offer a handicap draw option... effectively making the bet that you thought was +1, actually +0.5. If someone bet France they would have effectively had France-1.5.

I am not 100% but I believe these are called European Handicaps... and they are offered mainly by European Bookmakers. Just always check to make sure that the handicap draw is not an option... if it is factor it in when reviewing the odds.

If the Handicap Draw is an option your bet is half a goal worse off either side.

If it was asian handicap then yes it was a draw. Of course there will always be a draw option. all soccer matches have draw options after 90mins. if it was FRANCE -1 then you should have pushed... I don't see why you shouldn't push. I bet asian handicap all the time.

Soccer lines are so confusing, so many variations

Stick to straight asian handicaps with no draw options

When you see an handicap market that has the draw option, it's NOT asian handicap, but european handicap and that's totally different. The asian handicap never has the draw option, not all bookies offer the asian handicap you need to look carefuly.

no Buddy the bet is lost , European Books have different Handicaps, you have higher odds, ifyou would have placed the bet with 5dimes , it would have been a push , but the odds were way lower, there are NO pushes when you bet with Paddypower or WilliamHill or any similar Euro Books, AND you bet was a Handicap bet NOT a Asian Handicap
