Wilt? Magic? Bird? Jordan? Give me the Big O. Oscar Robertson. The only man to average a triple/double for an entire season. Then missed repeating it the next season by .5 of an assist.
Greatest basketball player ever.

#16No matter how good someone is or was, time always fades them.
My uncle used to say, "Oscar Robertson was Michael Jordan before Michael Jordan" reffering to how unreal in ability he was. I think Michael Jordan brought into the nba the "above the rim" era where dunking and personal flair were important.
Then again, you could say Dr. J was the one who really brought that into the nba. Where would Jordan rank if he didnt have any nba rings? Would he be a domnique wilkins, maybe a dr j or somewhere on the 2nd tier of great players who never won the big one?
Bill Russell was one of the best players in the NBA and won more championships than any other player. Does his number of rings alone by itself justify him as #1?
Its always difficult to make these "best" list, because its hard to compare players from different eras. Obviously greatness stands out, but head to head its so hard to measure when the game has changed and progressed so much over time.Comment -

Physical traits have changed. Lebron James is 6-8, 250 - he
would have been one of the biggest guys on the floor in the 60's....Comment -
