CBC axing the HNIC theme song
This is an absolute tragedy for Canadians. It is an iconic song that unifies us as Canadians. I can't believe the CBC is so cheap they wont renew the contract for the song. It has been the hockey night in Canada for something like 60 years. I bet most adults dont know "O Canada", but I'm sure they can hum the HNIC song.

There will be and already is such a backlash that the person who wrote the song and holds the right is in a position to call the shots and quite possibly make more money. All it cost the CBC was $500 per game to use the song and now it could end up costing more. CBC is the best in the world for producing live hockey games for TV. This decision will be reversed by Monday.

It would be the equivalent of axing MNF in the US. Unforgiveable!

Hopefully the same thing happens this time as it did when they wanted to get rid of maclean and Cherry, on seperate occassions but the public forced CBC to keep them. Don't know why they would even think of getting rid of that song
We would have to hear crap like they play for the games on tsn. That song blows
