Shaq is obviously and always has been an attention whore...however, I'm not sure this instance makes him any more of one. This could go either way. Perhaps waiting until the NBA was quiet would draw even more attention on him because the media is always starving for stuff to talk about during any given sport's off-season.

I love shaq....think hes hilarious...followed him all through college. His career fell off really fast though the last 5 years with all the injuries. I remember when he was in like his 3rd year in the league he said he was only planning on playing like 10 or 12 season...I remember being pissed....looking back that's what he should have done.
