From what I understand, it doesn't. It represents the bookmaker taking a position on the game because the volume/characterization of action placed on both sides. The theory behind RLM is that sharper action, in the bookmakers opinion, is being placed on the smaller volume side of the game. The sharper action cause the line to move in the direction that is against conventional movement. The bookmaker normally has a more sophisticated opinion on the likely outcome of the game, so following this movement when it occurs will yield a +ev return over the long haul.

Quite simply there re people who know more than you or are smarter than you. They place a big bet on one side of the game, the line moves. This doesn't affect the game itself, but the people would not be betting large sums of money if they were losing players, meaning that they are likely right.
Typically line movement shouldn;t deter you from placing a bet, but if you are going against line movement you should know that you are picking against gamblers that are likely hitting over 55% and that is a poor sign for you. Hope that cleared it up,

Basically it is betting a 50/50 coin flip on the team that has a better chance to win

Nobody can predict the outcome of the game, they can only estimate. And the line is an estimation. When a line moves, it is because someone with new/more information has a closer estimation to the truth. That truth is the closing line.

The smart money was on miami in game 3. If the line didnt move as much as it did then you roll with dallas. At the end of the day smart money wins so much more it is crazy to go against it. For example i took the cubs ml today at +136 but just seconds before gametime the cards ml was hit and it went to +140. I already knew i lost or was in trouble. We all know how the cubs choked that game away. Line movement is the SINGLE most important factor when it comes to betting. Nothing is more important. If you think you are gonna beat sharp money you should stop or just bet small for fun.

LB i like your analysis there.
however, if i see 80% of the public on team A at -130, i will play the other side +120 every time. i do not care that the line steamed 20 cents. 80% is always the square side

And LB gives a decent explanation further.
