Why do most of the new members never post?
Ever notice there's like 10 sign ups a day, yet mostly they never post?

This is not as outrageous as when someone that signed up in late 2006 decides that the best way to introduce himself to the forum is to bash in one of my threads for his 1st post after two years in hibernation.

They just want to lurk, no intentions of posting. Being able to sign in gives you the ability to read the first post of the thread by scrolling over the thread title on the main page. If you arent logged in you have to actually click on the thread to read the first post. Thats my guess.

            1. Interest in only being a lurker and not spending hours posting.
            2. Lack of interest when football season is not in swing.
            3. Being referred by someone but not really being interested once they see what the site actually is.

Sometimes I'll sign up for a forum or something online, then never go back. I maybe had intentions of getting involved in this or that, but in the end it didn't take for whatever reason.

Another reason might be that not everyone is good at writing and/or typing.

Maybe some accounts are simply data mining?
