I used to wonder why the right wing nutcases hated Hillary Clinton so passionately throughout the 90s. I thought it was totally unjustified and had alot to do with the fact she was just a strong willed woman. Well, I guess the conservative washington insiders saw in her more than a decade ago for what she really is, a straight up bitch.
The reality is, the majority of the people in this country would be democratically inclined to vote, but they dont. Already through the primary season, Obama has made several southern republican stronghold states such as Mississipi and south carolina a legit reality of winning, just by getting the large black population their to register and vote. He may not win them, but he has put them into play, something Hillary Clinton couldnt do.
For those who keep talking about Hillary bringing the white working vote really dont know electoral politics well. No democratic candidate has won the "white working class vote," since Johnson.
Do you know Bill Clinton didnt win the white working class vote and somehow he mananged to win the presidency?
If you look at the electoral maps, the democrats have existed that last 40 years by winning just a few perimiter states around the country who have large electoral counts. Its the whole "blue vs red state" thing.
Basically its California, Oregon and Washington, as well as the New York and some NE states. Maybe 15 or so states are who the democrats rely on in order to win.
With Obamas campaigning, and emphasis on register black and new voters, as well bring indepenents onboard all of a sudden puts many republican states into play. Already there is talk of Obama winning Mississippi, which has like a 50% black population, but hasnt voted for a democrat since Kennedy ran.
On the electibility issue, the reality is, MOST of the people who 100% would not vote for a black man, or a woman are not democrats. Now, within the democratic party there is certainly its own share of bigots who would rule a black man out, but the choice of Mccain is so lackluster, that he is really not winning many people over. I mean its like Dominoes vs a cold leftovers that have been in the fridge all week. Mccain is the cold leftovers.
Obama will win for 3 reasons and theyre rather simple.
1. The state of this country is very bad, the Bush administrations level of blantant cronyism and lies have soured people of the same old tired republican rhetoric.
2. John Mccain absolutely envokes no support among republicans, and even the ones that do support him ONLY do so because he is a "republican" in name only, and not because of his record or accomplishments. He is not a religious conservative, so he doesnt really have their vote wholeheartidly, and he is just as much of a pork barrel spender as any mainstream democrat. Does anyone remember Ann Coulter saying she would vote for HIllary Clinton if Mccain won the republican nominee?
3. Obamas simple message of change has appealed to the majority of americans who are tired and fed up with idiocy of Bush and all of his faliures and corruption. Obama is very intelligent, and people are so tired of the same old trash, that "change" in and of itself is something people want. Hell, even Mccain has started using "change" in his speeches and talks.
Why do you think people took a chance on Obama and not Clinton? A year ago today, Hillary Clinton was by far the front runner, and Obama was a popular, yet somewhat marginal character not to distant from Ron Paul. The people in Iowa risked their vote on Obama, a longshot, and on super Tuesday they went and voted for him and NOT Clinton, because they knew what Cliton was about, and what she would bring, and they said no thanks.
Obama doesnt need Clinton and would puting a gun to his head if took her as a running mate. She has almost as many negatives attached to her name as George Bush does.
Obama will win with or without her. If she is VP, hell be dead in 2 weeks after air force one "accidently" falls out of the sky.Comment
