      The Disingenuousness of Phil Ivey

      As most of you know by now, Phil Ivey, Poker Star extroadinare, and arguably the best known poker player in the world, has filed a lawsuit against Full Tilt Poker seeking 150 million in damages, along with injuctive relief asking to be released from his FTP contract to pursue other potential endorsement deals. To beging this process, Phil Ivey released the following PR statement on his website;
      “For many years, I have been proud to call myself a poker player. This great sport has taken me to places I only imagined going and I have been blessed with much success. It is therefore with deep regret that I believe I am compelled to release the following statement.
      I am deeply disappointed and embarrassed that Full Tilt players have not been paid money they are owed. I am equally embarrassed that as a result many players cannot compete in tournaments and have suffered economic harm. I am not playing in the World Series of Poker as I do not believe it is fair that I compete when others cannot. I am doing everything I can to seek a solution to the problem as quickly as possible.
      My name and reputation have been dragged through the mud, through the inactivity and indecision of others and on behalf of all poker players I refuse to remain silent any longer. I have electronically filed a lawsuit against Tiltware related to the unsettled player accounts. As I am sure the public can imagine, this was not an easy decision for me.
      I wholeheartedly refuse to accept non-action as to repayment of players funds and I am angered that people who have supported me throughout my career have been treated so poorly.
      I sincerely hope this statement will ignite those capable of resolving the problems into immediate action and would like to clarify that until a solution is reached that cements the security of all players, both US and International, I will, as I have for the last six weeks, dedicate the entirety of my time and efforts to finding a solution for those who have been wronged by the painfully slow process of repayment.”
      The above statement has to be the most disgenious drivel I have ever read before. While I respect Ivey for looking out for his own interest here. I DO NOT RESPECT IVEY because he claims to care about the players who have not yet been paid”
      The Lawsuit in brief can be viewed at the following link ;
      A copy of a lawsuit filed Wednesday, June 1, 2011, by poker professional Phil Ivey against Tiltware, LLC, a California company with ties to online poker operator Full Tilt Poker. Ivey announced the suit Tuesday in a statement saying he'd skip the World Series of Poker in protest of Full Tilt not promptly returning player funds amid legal troubles in the United States. The complaint was obtained Wednesday by the Associated Press from Clark County District Court in Las Vegas.

      Ivey goes on in his statement that his lawsuit has to do with PLAYERS, “plural”, accounts. Yet no where in the complaint filed does Phil seek relief for anyone else but himself. Ivey is asking for 150 million dollars for HIMSELF! If Ivey is even remotely doing this for the players, why is that not mentioned at all in the complaint?
      I can certainly understand and agree with the complaint in terms of Ivey wanting to be let out of his contract with FTP.. But people, do not beleive Ivey is doing this for you!
      Nothing Ivey is doing now is for your own good, for you guys to get paid. In fact, in my opinion, this can only hurt FTP’s effort to ensure you all get paid sooner than later. Granted, FTP has handled this situation very poorly, and their PR SUCKS MONKEY PUCKEY. Let’s look at FTP’S response to Ivey’s PR and Lawsuit to see how bad their PR department really is;
      “Contrary to his sanctimonious public statements, Phil Ivey’s meritless lawsuit is about helping just one player — himself
      Tiltware doubts Mr. Ivey’s frivolous and self-serving lawsuit will ever get to court. But if it does, the company looks forward to presenting facts demonstrating that Mr. Ivey is putting his own narrow financial interests ahead of the players he professes to help.”
      Michele Clayborne, of the company’s public relations agency, said by e-mail.
      Who does PR for FTP, an angry boy who just got shot down by some hotty big chested girlie, thus rejecting his romantic desire? FTP should respond in a much more professional/adult manner. However, I do agree with them, Ivey is doing this for Ivey, and it is his right to do so for sure.
      Some sources have said that Ivey had an account frozen by The DOJ, and is looking to insulate himself from further indictments that are said to be coming. FTP says Ivey owes them money, implying Ivey is cash poor and is looking for a fast buck, wanting out of his contract to take another deal with another site, as Ivey also implies another site/endorsement deal in his legal complaint.
      Ivey has to know that by filing this lawsuit, it will not help anyone else but himself, and I think long term it may hurt Ivey. FTP made this bed however, and as I have mentioned many times before, they are handling this whole situation terribly. This post here is in no way meant to exonerate FTP or take their side in this. It is meant to show that Ivey does not give a shit about the players as his PR so disengenously stated. If you happen to be a man reading this and you beleive Ivey is out to help you, I would point out to you that the next time you take a piss, LIFT THE DAMNED TOILET SEAT UP MAN!

                          American Players wearing FTP patches at WSOP are a disgrace!

                          Why are they a disgrace you ask? Well their fellow Americans have not yet been paid by FTP, and not even the patch wearers are being paid currently. I have no problem with an Euro player, Canadian player, heck any non USA resident player wearing The FTP patch, as FTP is legally allowed to do biz in those countries. However, as we all know, FTP is not allowed to serve American players, and are not allowed to play on FTP for money!
                          Allen Cunningham took some shit yesterday at The WSOP for wearing his patch. He should expect to take shit, as long as it is not out of line shit and overly rude and vile. Allen is said to have responded to the player giving him shit, “Hey you buy stuff made in China” LOL!! Horrible Analogy Allen;
                          The last time I checked, it is perfectly LEGAL to buy stuff made in China. Sure, I think a lot of us would like to see more American made products being bought and sold here, but WTF does any of us buying something perfectly legal and allowed for us to buy, have to do with FTP not paying USA players, and USA players NOT BEING ALLOWED to play for money on FTP? We have a choice to buy or not buy Chinese products, We do not have a choice as Americans when it comes to FTP now do we? Man Allen, that is really a lame excuse.. Man up and tear off that patch!!
                          I think it is a flat out slap in the face to those of us who are owed money by FTP, and cannot play for money on FTP, when FTP sponsored AMERICAN players wear FTP patches at an AMERICAN sponsored and played in our country event!
                          The next time any of you see someone wearing an FTP patch, ask them “WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?” There has to be something in it for them to be so bold and brazen to wear the patch of a company who owes over 100 million dollars to US AMERICAN PLAYERS!
                          You players wearing FTP patches, think about it carefully the message you are sending out there. Remember, The WSOP will not allow patches to be worn on the featured tables. The WSOP is an American event, FTP hoping to attract new AMERICAN PLAY MONEY ACCOUNTS? lol!!
                          So why are you wearing those patches? TEAR THEM OFF until at least FTP settles what is owed to American players! And Yes, FTP does have a target date to pay, and I beleive they will meet that target.. However, SHOW ME DA MONEY, Then wear that patch proudly! Wear it now, WEAR IT IN SHAME!

                              [ ] full tilt is 'raising capital' right now in order to pay U.S. players
                              [x] full tilt had the money just like stars, but prioritized their 'expenses' differently right after the shutdown

                              IMO if things ever go back to the way they were before all this, stars gains 10438239473 times more credibility then tilt. and i even used to be somewhat on the 'jokerstars' hater bandwagon myself so thats saying a lot.

                              On the other had, I hope all you guys get your funds whether its 10k or 10 bucks. Your money is sitting in their pockets right now, and it doesn't belong there.

                                      I personally usually play 4-12 tables at a time, usually taking around 200-500 to each....

                                      I have a couple friends who multi 24 tables w/500 starting stack on each - thats 12k just to get started.

                                                LOL at the losers in this thread on about how players should know the risks and not keep money online, and wishing ill on "the nerds at 2+2".

                                                You should be outraged as players at this interpretation of the UIGEA, let alone the dubious way this bill was slipped through congress. There have been several court rulings that "the predominant factor in No-Limit Texas Hold 'em is skill". TTwarrior, trinity, and the rest, this means that it is officially YOUR fault that you are losers. Because of these rulings, whether online poker could even be considered illegal is questionable, and the players certainly didn't do anything illegal.

                                                The only reason these sites were seized was that Nevada was about to pass a bill allowing their banks to fund poker, meaning the government was going to have to defend the BS UIGEA in court or just let it slide. This is about the casino lobby buying off congress and the DoJ to keep the rake flowing through live venues and lotteries. You should be pissed at your corrupt government, not laughing at the people who had real money to play poker with.
                                                Walter forgot... when you're desperate's when you got no choice.
