You gotta hustle when it is busy, but with $12/hr, plus tips, plus what you skim off the top, plus gaining contacts...... it seems like a good gig to have for a while.

You want me to teach you?

I did for about 20 years. Got out of it when Mojitos got popular.

Skim off the top and my legs get broken

              Not doing that

I might cut grass instead because I do not have to think

I've sold beer at Angel's, Padre's and Charger games including one Super Bowl. Fun part time job! Average @ 100 a day in tips. All cash. A local community College offered a Bar tending class which I completed. Never worked in a bar per say.
The universe is tossing you an underhand pitch: take a swing! Nothing ventured - nothing gained.
Get a recipe book and practice mixing drinks. Knowledge of sports is a big plus. I used that tactic when hustling tips. It also is a doorway to underground markets. Go slowly down that highway.

i'd worry about parking in newark and leaving and driving out of newark day or night. take the gig though and establish yourself as a go to bartender...
