Ok I do credit stuff. I had someone ask for help and he asked how I made money. I told him since the company he was fighting was violating I can help him get money and I just split it 50% on whatever he gets. He said fine and did not care about the money anyway and just wanted the harassment to stop. I sent the appropriate letters and made calls and still the harassment continued. With the letters he now had a papertrail to act on. I got ahold of a friend who is an attorney and he agreed to take the case. This guy asked me how much to expect and I said probably a dime but the attorney gets 1/3. He said he did not care he just wanted it to stop and a few hundred would be nice.
He got the papers but did not want to spend the money to file. I told him do not worry you will get your money back and talked to my friend the attorney alot and finally a settlement came in but it was 5 dimes- way larger then any of us thought.
The attorney and the guy signed an agreement for 50/50. Suddenly this guy says oh the attorney is paying you right and I said no I do not work for him and that is illegal anyway. Then it became 'I will take care of you'. Yes, those dreaded words. The attorney, to make it easier, dropped him rate from 50% to 33% which is $850.
The first of 2 checks came last week and the guy got his money. He said he would give me $350 which to him is fair- far below the 50% we orally agreed on and $500 less than the difference the attorney lowered his rates so he could pay.
This shit always happens to me. Nice people get cash and suddenly justify screwing me. This has happened 15 out of the last 16 people I have helped. Would you take the money he offered or tell him to keep it because it is insulting and less than the agreed 50% or at the minimum $850 difference he was to pay me.
