Speak Your Mind about MLB/NBA Betting

Be the first to do 1 of these 2 stipulations and you'll get 5 SBR Points:

      1. I bet Frizzelli will post here, b/c he can't stop stalking/harassing me like a gay f\*g. No offence to gay people. I will give 5 sbr points to first person to quote frizzelli's post in here if he comes here.

*2. Stipulation has changed, b/c frizzelli is just gonna try to prove me wrong by not posting here. So the first person to post a legitimate link to a thread where frizzelli came and started trouble with them out of the blue, then you get 5 SBR Points and that's it.

After watching every playoff hockey game the past two weeks, I can't watch the NBA....it sucks. Isolation basketball is just plain horrible, even when the best players in the world are in the game.

Give me an NHL first round playoff game any day of the week.

It was even hard to watch my beloved Celtics these playoffs.

Any sport game is a crap shoot to predict. Starting at VegasInsider and previous posters. Check out my link about my other thread in my first post, and what do u think about betting more Over/Under than Point Spreads? Another paragraph from that book: ...Most of the big money bets we receive on totals are from sharp players. We know that if we put up a weak totals number, we will be hit hard on one side only.

NBA is horrible to bet and horrible to watch I don't know how you guys do it, college basketball is 100 times better.

I played baseball up until college and know a ton about it but suck at betting it, too many games for me.

I'm not sure which one is more rigged, but almost every sport game if not every sport game can be fixed. We need computers to start calling the strike zone if that's possible. If you bet on both MLB and NBA then u have a game to wager on all year long, except for the small one month (shorter or longer than a month) gap between MLB's end of the postseason and NBA starting up again.

This is post that I'm referring to from my other thread (not first post in other thread) when I ask the question in the quote above:

(I guess it doesn't matter if you bet more Over/Under Totals than Point Spreads, b/c it depends on which one you think is gonna give you the better chance of winning. I just thought that betting more Over/Under Totals might be easier to win than trying to be a psychic by predicting a winner and how much they are gonna win/lose by with the point spread. Maybe that's a reason why sports bettors are losers because we're being asked to be psychics by choosing a point spread, and hoping that we can predict a sports game by going with the right number that will cover. Let's face it we're not psychics that can always predict the right outcome of a sports game by a certain winning/losing number, we just hope that we chose the right point spread and sports books are always gonna have an advantage with that fact.)

It boggles my mind when I hear handicappers say that a certain team is gonna win by 5 points or some exact number. How do you know that they're gonna win by that perfect number that you're predicting? And in the end they lose by a greater number than that.

Referring to this post --> Some Interesting Paragraphs
from You Can Bet On It! by Larry Grossman:

I'm thinking Why Not Attack Sports Books at Their Weak Points?

                      BETTING OVER/UNDERS by Sonny Reizner

...At Castaways Sportsbook, which I managed before it closed, we would have a $5, 000 or $10, 000 limits on team bets, but we would have only a $1, 000 limit on overs and unders. There are a number of reasons for this, and they all point to the same conclusion. We, the sportsbooks, are less sure of our ability to post the correct number in the totals proposition than we are in the traditional pointspread proposition. A reason among other reasons for this are:

                      1. We have been putting up numbers on the pointspreadd proposition for 35 years. The totals proposition is relatively new.

...Also, there is considerable overlapping of sports. In September and part of October, we have both baseball and football. In April, we have both baseball and basketball. In November, we have both basketball and football.

We put up our totals numbers with whatever time and energy we have left over from our battle with the main proposition, and I would be the first to admit that our totals numbers are not as strong as our pointspread numbers. Assuming there is a general weakness in the totals numbers, how can the player go about exploiting that weakness?

Then the book talks about what a serious and dedicated player should know and do to attack the totals proposition...

Here are a few points among other points:

                      - Record and study the stats and the number of points or runs scored between all the teams who played against each other, and at which site, plus the number of points scored and allowed by each team against all opponents.

                      - Look for high numbers and see if you can find a reason to bet under. Look for low numbers and see if you can find a reason to bet over. Analzye the style of play of each team in each game. Are the teams offensive-minded or defensive-minded? Is one team offense-minded and the other defensive-minded?

                      - Are there defensive injuries that might tend to permit the other team to score more easily?
                      - Are there offensive injuries that would inhibit scoring?

                      - Revenge factor: teams which lost by a big margin in a previous encounter with a certain opponent will try to run up the score, if they can, when playing that opponent again.

Some of the advantage(s) the over-under player enjoys over the sportsbooks are:

                      1. The quality of the linemakers in putting up totals is less than their quality in putting up pointspread numbers.

...5. The astute player has a built-in advantage. He can put more time and effort into handicapping his totals plays than the bookmaker can put into making his totals line.

I'm just sharing information among sports bettors.
